2018 Ford F-150 Review

Montrose Ford of Fairlawn, your go-to Ford dealer, created this 2018 Ford F-150 review to give our customers a better idea of this pickup’s power, strength, and versatility.

When you’re battling the heavy snows of a Fairlawn area winter or getting to work in the greater Akron or Cleveland area, you need a truck that won’t back down from a challenge.

2018 Ford F-150 Engine Specs

The 2018 F-150 comes with six engine options: five gas and one diesel. The truck comes standard with a 3.3L V6 engine that generates 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. The other four available gas engines are the:

  • 2.7L EcoBoost® V6
  • 5.0L V8
  • 3.5L EcoBoost® V6
  • High-output 3.5L EcoBoost® V6

These engine options will get you a horsepower of 325-450 and a torque output of 400-510 lb-ft.

In Spring 2018, drivers will also be able to choose the new 3.0L Power Stroke® V6 Turbo Diesel engine which generates 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. This engine has the capacity to reach maximum torque at low gears, making it ideal for towing.

The F-150 is a standard 2-wheel drive vehicle, but 4-wheel drive is available on all trim levels.

F-150 Towing and Payload

With such mighty engine options, this truck does not skimp on how much weight it can carry. When properly equipped, the Ford F-150 can reach a best-in-class towing capability of 13,200 pounds.

It makes parking your trailer easier, too, with the available Pro Trailer Backup Assist™. This keeps the trailer steady and headed in the intended direction—as indicated by a knob on the dashboard—when reversing into a parking space.

As for what it can carry on its back, the three bed options give you 52.8-77.4 cubic feet of cargo space and the remote liftgate allows easy, hands-free access.

You can load it up to its 3,270-pound maximum payload capacity, which is also best-in-class. The F-150 can lift so much because it’s composed of a high-strength military-grade aluminum alloy that makes for a light, yet sturdy truck that weighs hundreds of pounds less than others in its class.

2018 F-150 Cab Options

Whether you’re taking a long trip or a short drive, you’ll find yourself plenty comfortable inside the cabin of the F-150, which gives you plenty of options for personalizing it to your taste.

Drivers can choose between 18 unique interiors, with vinyl, cloth, and leather available fabric options. These can be installed in three different cabs: Regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew.

The Regular cab seats three and provides drivers with 40.8 inches of headroom and 43.9 inches of legroom. These dimensions remain the same among all three cab options.

The SuperCab seats five or six, depending on whether you choose bench or bucket seats in the back. Passengers have 40.3 inches of headroom and 33.5 inches of legroom.

The SuperCrew also seats five or six but allows passengers to stretch out much more with 43.6 inches of legroom. That’s 10 more inches than the SuperCab.
